IQ recognition service point
Service Centre for the Development of Foreign Qualifications SEAQ Saar

You want to immigrate to Germany, you have just immigrated or you have been living here for a long time? Are you wondering how the qualifications acquired in your country of origin or those of your family members can be recognised in Germany and what opportunities they offer you on the labour market?
You are an employer and are asking yourself how you should classify an applicant with foreign qualifications in the German education system in order to adequately fill a vacancy in your company?

Individuals, companies, associations, organisations and institutions can contact the Saar Service Centre for the Development of Foreign Qualifications with these and similar questions.
The Service Centre for the Development of Foreign Qualifications is part of the IQ Landesnetzwerk Saarland. The IQ Landesnetzwerk Saarland offers recognition and qualification counselling for people with foreign qualifications seeking advice as well as needs-oriented adaptation qualifications. In addition, labour market actors receive information, advice and training to initiate intercultural opening processes. This objective is achieved through offers from a large number of sub-projects and sub-project sponsors.
The team of the service centre provides information and accompanies you in clarifying the following questions:
What innovations result from the new federal and Saarland recognition laws?
For which qualifications (school, vocational, university qualifications) are there recognition procedures?
In which professions is recognition absolutely necessary for practising the profession?
Which professions can I pursue without formal recognition and what chances do I have on the labour market with my qualification?
Which body is responsible for recognition?
How do I make an application for recognition?
Which documents are required to make the application?
What are the costs for the application process?
What forms of recognition are there (equivalent, partially equivalent)?
What entitlements are associated with a certificate of recognition? How should such a certificate be interpreted? Which other steps are required?
What other assessment methods are there apart from those mentioned?

Partners in the implementation are the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Federal Employment Agency (BA). The third priority area for action is financed from federal funds.
